Frequently asked questions about power cables military
Power cables for military use are strictly tested and certified in accordance with the Bundeswehr’s VG standard 95218. This concerns the special conditions for military ship cables and the requirements for use of the wires with regard to shielding, flexibility and safety. VG cables are tested and certified by the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) in accordance with VG standard 95218.
Power cables used as VG cables comply with the Bundeswehr’s VG standard 95218, which places special requirements on the wiring and cables themselves as well as on accessories such as plugs and couplings. This allows for use on military ships as well as in all other areas subject to high performance and safety requirements. Among other requirements, cables approved for use on ships of the German Navy must be halogen-free and highly flexible.
