At the state-wide industry congress of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Malte Witowski, Managing Director of Friesland Kabel GmbH, was invited to give a keynote speech on the topic of “Defense technology and the economy in transition: Opportunities for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.”
The focus was on the transformation process at Friesland Kabel: building on the existing expertise, the company established another strategic foundation in the military sector. In addition to technological and market economy factors, one aspect became particularly clear: Companies also bear social responsibility in times of geopolitical tensions.
Specifically, this means for Friesland Kabel:
Stockpiling military cables in accordance with the German Armed Forces' VG standard
Strengthening resilient supply chains
Partnership-based exchange with public and industrial players on an equal basis
The congress featured speakers such as Manuela Schwesig, Minister-President of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, State Secretary Jochen Schulte, Executive Director of the German Naval Arsenal Rainer Sacher and Marc Helmig from the Federation of German Security and Defense Industries (BDSV), as well as around 200 participants, impressively demonstrated the great interest in the security and defense industry as a future opportunity for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as an industrial location – and the importance of industrial resilience for the economy and society.
