Maritime Coordinator visits Friesland-Kabel

Maritime Coordinator of the State Government of Schleswig-Holstein visits Friesland-Kabel GmbH

Andreas Burmester, Maritime Coordinator of the State Government of Schleswig-Holstein, visited the headquarters of Friesland-Kabel GmbH in Norderstedt. Current opportunities and risks in the maritime industry were discussed in an intensive exchange with Managing Director Malte Witowski. Particular attention was paid to the connection between business and politics in order to promote key objectives such as the energy transition and resilience.

Fostering the energy transition

Friesland-Kabel GmbH makes a significant contribution to the energy transition with its large stocked product portfolio of cables and wires for maritime applications, for example in the electrification of shipping. The integration of offshore wind energy also has a significant role to play here. "We are valued by our long-standing customers for our products and services such as cutting, taping and labeling. Whether offshore converter platforms, research vessels, yachts, ferries or cruise ships - our solutions help to make the maritime industry more sustainable and efficient," emphasized Malte Witowski.

Growing importance of the military sector

Due to the current geopolitical situation, the military sector is also becoming increasingly important. Friesland-Kabel is ideally positioned in this area and offers an extensive range of navy certificated cables (VG standard), which contribute to maintaining and strengthening maritime security and defense capabilities. As the cables are available from stock, short-term requirements can be met at any time and resilient supply chains can be ensured. The team of Friesland-Kabel also successfully handles extensive projects with its many years of experience.

Important connections between business and politics

The exchange between business and politics is essential in order to jointly tackle current and future challenges together. "Cooperation with political decision-makers enables us to further develop our services in line with demand, adapt our product portfolio and at the same time take the political framework conditions into account," explained Malte Witowski. The state government's Maritime Coordinator Andreas Burmester was impressed by the company's achievements. "It is crucial that we have pioneers like Friesland-Kabel in Schleswig-Holstein, who are driving forward both the energy transition and security policy requirements and are collaborating to achieve our goals," said Andreas Burmester.
